A Late Return To Second Life

I can't remember how many times in the past decade that I've set up the rudiments of a journal with the intent of displaying my Second Life creations & writing about my misadventures within that metaverse.  A few times...four or five?  Six?  Who knows.  Little pockets of intent scattered around the web, inevitably neglected when life pulled my energies elsewhere to tangle with situations far less fun.

Circumstances have changed; life is now largely better.  Of course there are trade-offs -- not everything is perfect (when is it ever) -- but I at least have most of my focus back, focus which has returned with the restoration of my eyesight (being able to see is kind of An Important Thing in general, right?).  My life is peaceful & stable enough that I can now relax, sit down and actually *create* again.  So...here I go once more with a Second Life blog.  This time it should stick.

My avatar, Eryn Curie, is not a household name even though she was born in May of 2004, early enough for me to be on that initial surge of creators that helped shape LL's virtual world.  No, I never was in any of the "in" circles, though I did flutter occasionally on the outskirts with people who were.  I've created quite a bit for SL, 99% of the time as an independent designer & 99% of the time under a different avatar name.  In the years before mesh came along, I had a decent business selling religious items; it was a fun market to be in, very niche, very underserved.  I did that from about 2008 to 2011 & then went inactive when my eyesight started failing around that time.

It's 2017 now, and I'm back even though it's absurdly late in the game for returning in force to SL.  The quality of everyone's creative work has skyrocketed, but SL's userbase has drastically dwindled & will continue to lose people.  It is very sad, but in a platform that fails to innovate quickly enough in the right ways, not unexpected.  In any case, I'm here for the wind-down, returning to my post as queen of my mainland castle, watching the skies & hoping that the next iteration of the metaverse, Sansar or whatever form it may take, brings back the masses.  For my part, I wanna be there on the welcome mat again, ready to greet them when the doors open.  How 'bout it, LL?  :)

Thanks for reading.  More to come very soon.
